VOCALS, GUITAR, SONG WRITER
Matt picked up a guitar when he was 7 and hasn't been more than an arms length from one since. He drew much inspiration from his family who was also musically inclined. He began to immerse himself in everything pop-culture from trash TV to classic albums. The stage was set, so to speak. He cut his teeth as a singer/songwriter in college in Arizona. Upon graduation he realized he had to join the working world and entered the advertising agency scene in his hometown of Denver. It was in this free-thinking environment where he met dummer, Kerry Healy. The two quickly started playing shows and attracted Jeff, Tom, Erin and Caitlin through similar synchronistic circumstances.
The latest to join the group, Caitlin met Matt and Kerry when they all worked for the same company. She "crashed" one of their band practices, and did a few duo acoustic shows with Matt to see how she meshed vocally. (It all worked out.)
Caitlin had a very musical childhood (musical in the Rodgers and Hammerstein way). She's been singing in choirs since middle school, and even started an all female acapella group at the University of Wyoming (The Bettys). She dabbles with a few instruments, but mainly sticks to singing in the band (so far...). She finds it hard to pin down any specific musical influences because she enjoys practically everything (even though she's the only one in the band who likes country). She'll sing practically anything, but loves belting out a good cover from Grace Potter or ZZ Ward.
Matt and Kerry recruited Jeff on Bass in March 2009 and the trio quickly became a staple in the Denver music scene. Jeff met Matt a few years earlier, working at a local advertising agency.
Jeff has been playing the bass for over 15 years. He played in several heavy metal bands prior to joining the Matt Nasi Band. Despite the genre flip, he still brings his "gruff" attitude to his bass playing. His musical inspirations include Steve Harris, Geddy Lee and Jim Morrison.
Originally from Arizona, Erin met Matt in college. She was the supportive friend, always attending his shows at local coffee shops and open mic nights. After her move to Denver, she watched Matt's musical career unfold. As he added band mates one by one, she soon found herself playing the keyboard for the band.
Erin has played piano on and off for most of her life, but it was the opportunity to play with the band that rekindled her love for the keys. Her musical influences range from Radiohead to The Format.
Tom joined the Matt Nasi Band in August 2009. The trio of Matt, Kerry and Jeff were in search of an electric guitar player. Jeff introduced Tom to the band and he was the perfect fit to fill out the sound of the band.
Tom has been playing guitar for about 22 years, and his genre of bands is quite impressive. He has been a guitarist from jazz to heavy metal to alternative country and has been featured on 3 recorded albums. His musical tastes span from John Coltrane to Van Halen, Wilco to Arcade Fire, and everything in between.
As the first official member of the band, Kerry joined forces with Matt in January 2009. While colleagues at an advertising agency, they jammed a few times for fun, felt an immediate connection, and instantly began playing shows together.
As a self-taught drummer, Kerry has been playing for over 15 years. His musical influences range from Radiohead to Tool and a myriad of genres in between. His favorite drummers include Jon Theodore, Tim "Herb" Alexander, Stephen Perkins and Danny Carey.
